HELLO, I’M ELVIRA

BORN IN STOCKHOLM, BUT A TOKYOITE AT HEART

I have been a graphic designer for almost 8 years and have also worked in social media marketing. I also have extensive experience working with video and animations.

Before moving to London 1 year ago, I lived in Tokyo, Japan, for 12 years. So, besides my mother tongue, Swedish, I’m fluent in English and Japanese.

MY INTERESTS

& HOBBIES

In my free time, I don’t just sit around drawing logos; however, I like being creative in other ways!

Music and DJ:ing! These days I’m mostly on the other side of the DJ decks having a boogie but I used to DJ at clubs and music venues in Tokyo.

Making clothes! I love fashion and style, but sometimes it’s easier and more fun to make your own clothes from scratch –or up-cycle things I’ve found in thrift stores or charity shops.

Baking! Growing up in Sweden I have a deep relationship to cakes and other baked goods.

Spending time in nature. Perhaps because I grew up in Sweden, I do love being in nature and regularly go on hikes or forest walks.

Visiting art shows and galleries and going to design talks. Nicer Tuesday is one of my favourites.

A (VERY SHORT) SUMMARY OF MY LIFE

I was born and raised on Södermalm (the coolest and hippest part of town😎) in Stockholm Sweden.

I also started DJ:ing around Tokyo music venues and night clubs.

After 12 years in Tokyo I moved to London in September 2024. Where I have just finished a 1 year Master’s degree in Graphic Design.

When I was 18, I moved to Tokyo, Japan, after receiving the MEXT scholarship. A highly competitive scholarship given to a small number of non-Japanese nationals every year.

After finishing my diploma studies, I went on to study at Musahino Art University—one of the top 3 art universities in Tokyo. I graduated two years later with a BA in Textile Design.

Post graduation I got offered a job at a Japanese startup working with B2C and B2B educational video content and platforms. I learned video production and videoo editing as well as social media marketing.

On the side I created my own projects, video and other types. This one using kimono fabric to make masks for my friends during the pandemic.

2 years of freelance work later, I started working as a designer at Tag Japan, formally known as Williams Lea Tag.

Like what you’ve seen?
Then please …

I was invited as a guest speaker at design events and also held an art exhibition in west Tokyo.

Having studied graphic design on my own and wanting to pursue a more design focused career I left the company after 2.5 years to work as a graphic designer and video editor.

Attended a 2-year school, called a specialised training college. Where I studied Product and Industrial Design.
